2 children drown in a water pit at Morawaka in Matara

2 boys who went to fetch water at Athu-ela area in Morawaka, Matara last evening had died after falling into a water pit.

According to the police media sources, the deceased children, aged 6 and 8, are residents of Thalape Kumbura area.

The alleged pit had been dug to draw water for a cultivated land.

The pit had water filled up to 15 feet at the time of the tragic accident.
