29 persons who visited Sigiriya have been admitted to hospital following a hornet attack.

The victims were admitted to Sigiriya Hospital where four of them have been transferred to Dambulla Hospital for further treatment.

According to Sigiriya Police, the victims have been attacked by hornets near the Lion’s Paw of the Sigiriya Rock this morning.

Sigiriya Hospital spokesman stated that a female foreigner was among the victims and she had left after receiving treatment from the hospital.

The reason for the hornets’ disturbance was the severe wind condition around the Sigiriya rock.

Meanwhile, a group of tea plucker female workers at Glanner Tea Estate in Haputale were also subjected to a hornet attack this afternoon.

The Police stated that 6 among these women were admitted to Haputale Hospital.
