Team of officers deployed to resolve Matale Hospital Labour room issue
A special meeting is in progress between the authorities of Health Ministry and Matale Hospital in order to reach a compromise on reopening the labour room at Matale Hospital.
An issue occurred at the Matale Hospital Labour room when Midwives refrained from signing the register under the supervision of Nursing officers.
In response to this act, the Nursing Officers have announced the midwives not to enter the labour room if they do not wish to sign the register under their supervision.
Later the Medical officers at Matale Hospital have decided to shut down the Labour room of the hospital yesterday since it was not possible to operate it without the support of the midwives.
Therefore, the pregnant mothers close to delivery have been transferred to Kandy General Hospital.
