7000 police and military troops deployed for Victory Day Parade

Army Media Spokesperson Brigadier Ruwan Wanigasekara states that the victory celebration is a celebration of the entire nation.

Speaking at a press conference held in Colombo today the Army Media Spokesperson stated that certain other parties are trying to give a different definition to this celebration.

He also stated that he is inviting all the citizens of the country to join the victory celebration.

Speaking further he stated that 7132 personnel representing the Tri Forces, the Police and the Civil Defence force are taking part in this year’s victory celebrations.

Speaking further he stated that the security forces has apprehended 3 individuals who are suspected LTTE members while they were travelling to Tamil Nadu via boat on the 5th of May.

Elaborating further Army Media Spokesperson Brigadier Ruwan Wanigasekara stated that one of those who were arrested was a close associate of Gopi who was killed during an operation carried out by the security forces recently.
