Kurshid says ties between Congress government and Sri Lanka were not strained
Former Foreign Minister of the Indian Congress Government Salman Kurshid stated that there was no strain in ties with Sri Lanka.
Speaking to IANS news service Kurshid said that as far as Sri Lanka is concerned, the issue about accountability has not yet settled.
He also said that Sri Lanka are important for India and said that any issues that exist should not damage our relations.
On ties with Colombo, Khurshid said the Indian prime minister not attending the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting Summit last November in Colombo had not affected ties.
Meanwhile, following the results of the Indian general election, President Mahinda Rajapaksa invited the new Prime Minister elect of India Narendra Modi to visit Sri Lanka.
