Police arrested 18 Allied Health Science Students while they were protesting in front of the University Grants Commission recently.
Several factions including Inter University Students Federation charged that police assaulted students inhumanly during the protest.
Later on a Court order, four students were hospitalized and two of them are still receiving treatment at Colombo National Hospital.
However police informed the Court that they used minimum force to arrest the students during the protest.
In response to police statement, Colombo Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage stressed that the use of minimum force should not be assaulting students until their eye balls are popped out.
