Teacher who was forced to kneel begins a fund with compensation fee-Video
Lanka Teachers Association launched a fund at Nawagaththegama Isuru Navodya School, led by the teacher at the same school who was forced to kneel by a Provincial Councillor.
Puttalam High Courts sentenced the former North Western provincial Councillor Ananda Sarath Kumara for 2 years in prison with heavy work, who was accused for forcing a female teacher to kneel.
High Courts Judge Priyantha Fernando further suspended the sentence for 7 years.
The suspect was ordered to pay Rs. 50,000 fine, and to pay Rs. 300, 000 to the complainant Teacher Susila Herath.
Speaking during a media briefing convened in Colombo today, Lanka Teachers Association General Secretary Joseph Stalin stated that they will launch a fund by the name ‘Ahinsa’ with the compensation fee received by the teacher.
