Thai army chief declared acting Prime Minister

Thailand’s military junta chief Prayut Chan-O-Cha reportedly declared himself as the acting prime minister after the army declared a coup to halt months of political turmoil.

The Bangkok Post reported that Prayut will be the interim premier for administrative purposes, until the coup regime can find someone to serve the post full time, citing the National Peace and Order Maintaining Council.

The junta also summoned 114 ousted leaders from rival political camps.

An army official said deposed Prime Minister has reported to the military.
