The Railway Control Room stated that train services are now been carried out as usual.

Yesterday evening some delays were experienced due to the absence of Train Guides and therefore 5 trains were cancelled.

Meanwhile, a heated situation arose at the Maradana Railway Station yesterday evening when passengers had assaulted a train guide.

The situation was brought under control by the Police.

Convenor of the Graded Trade Unions Collective stated that these issues cropped up due to the shortage of Train Guides.

Railways Superintendent L A R Rathnayake also stated that the entry exam to recruit Train Guides will be held during this month and recruitments will take place later on.
