Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi has welcomed Sri Lankan government's move to release Indian fishermen ahead of his swearing-in ceremony.

Sri Lanka announced to release fishemen caught in its waters as a goodwill gesture ahead of President Mahinda Rajpaksa's visit to Modi's swearing-in ceremony.

Modi also expressed gratitude to SAARC leaders for accepting his invitation.

India will appoint the new Prime Minister after Modi takes the oath at Rashtrapati Bhawan this evening.
