Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was sworn in as the 15th Prime Minister of India before Indian President Pranab Mukarjee at the Indian President’s house Shasthra-pathi-bawan in New Delhi.
Over four thousand guests have been invited to the Indian Prime Minister’s swearing-in ceremony today.
Several leaders of the Asian region including President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Pakistani Prime Minister Navaz Sherif were among the distinguished guests.
Meanwhile Congress Party Leader Sonia Gandhi, its General Secretary Rahul Gandhi and former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh were also present at Shasthra-pathi-bawan to attend the swearing in ceremony.
Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu LTTE sympathizer and MDMK party leader Y. Gopalaswami alias Vaiko was arrested in New Delhi by Police today.
According to Indian media, he was arrested for protesting against the Lankan President’s attendance to the Oath Taking ceremony of new Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Police arrested Vaiko and a group of other persons who staged a protest in Chandar, New Delhi.
