President Rajapakse meets Indian Prime Minister Modi in New Delhi.
Bilateral talks between President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Indian premier Narendra Modi started at Hydrabad Palace in New Delhi this morning.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was scheduled to meet SAARC leaders after he was sworn in yesterday, and it was a significant meeting between the two leaders of Sri Lanka and India.
Premier Narendra Modi said after his election victory that he wanted to build strong ties among his neighbors, and Premier Modi’s open invitation to his Pakistani counterpart to the swearing-in ceremony considered to be a goodwill gesture of Prime Minister Modi’s commitment to his foreign diplomacy.
Meanwhile, congratulation message, President Mahinda Rajapaksa stated that Sri Lanka will be in his side in the fight against terrorism.
