The delegation including President Mahinda Rajapaksa that had gone to New Delhi to participate in Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s oath-taking ceremony returned to the island at about 8.45 last night.
Our airport correspondent said that the delegation headed by the President arrived in the island on board a special SriLankan Airlines flight.
President Mahinda Rajapaksa briefed Indian President Pranaab Mukerji about Sri Lanka’s development projects and national peace alliance activities.
That was when the President met the Indian President at Raastrapathi Bhavaan in New Delhi.
On this occasion the two Presidents had exchanged views about several subjects of mutual importance to both countries.
Speaking at the discussion the Indian President said that under the project for setting up 43,000 houses in the Northern and Eastern provinces, another 16,000 houses would be completed this year.
The Indian President also emphasized that within next year the whole project would be completed.
President Mahinda Rajapaksa last forenoon met new Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and held discussions.
