SLFP General Secretary Minister Maithreepala Sirisena says the President, Minister Basil Rajapaksa or he himself have no connection to the party defect by two provincial councilors of National Freedom Front.

Addressing a media conference this morning, Minister Sirisena made this statement with regard to a statement made by NFF yesterday.

During a media briefing held in Gampaha yesterday, NFF Central Committee member Piyasiri Wijenayake charged that SLFP has launched a program to grab elected members of his party.

Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva also expressed his views over the recent defect by two NFF Uva Provincial councilors during this media conference.

He insisted the government has no necessity to grab elected members of any party and the NFF Uva Provincial councilors defected on their own accord.

The Minister also said that NFF is still a government coalition therefore the government has not marginalized it nor did it de-list from the government so far.
