U.S. Assistance Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Nisha Biswal has had a discussion with a group of Sri Lankan women parliamentarians on the role of the woman for promotion of peace and reconciliation in Sri Lanka.
The women parliamentarian group representing ruling and opposition parties are currently touring the United States.
Nisha Biswal, in a twitter message said that she met the women parliamentarian group and discussed with them about preventing violence against women in the country.
Ministers Sumedha G Jayasena, Pavithra Wanniarachchi an MP’s Sudarhani Fernando-pullai, Kamala Ranathunga, Sriyani Wijewickrama and Upeksha Swarnamali represented the government.
Meanwhile, MP’s Rosy Senanayaka, Anoma Gamage, Wije-kala Maheshwaran and Chandrani Bandara represented the opposition.
