Vaas Gunawardena's settlement proposal regarding case rejected
Three court cases which attracted much public interest were taken for hearing before the Court today.
They are the cases in which former DIG Vass Gunawardana reprimanding and posing death threats to CID sleuths including ASP Shani Abeysekera at the CID headquarters, the murder of a British national at a resort in Tangalle and the cash fraud case against Sudarma Nethikumara.
The Court decided to hear the case after ASP Shani Abeysekera disagreed to settle the case as proposed by Vass Gunawardana faction.
The case was fixed to be taken for trial on the 12th of September, and Vass Gunawardana was remanded until then.
Meanwhile the Colombo High Court ordered the director of the Tangalle Hospital to release copies of the bed head ticket of Russian national Victoria Alexandra to the CID.
The order was given when the case of murdering a British national and ganged raping his partner at a resort in Tangalle was taken before the Colombo High Court Judge Rohini Walgama today.
The case will be taken for trail again on the 2nd of June.
Meanwhile Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage called off the arrest warrant issued on businesswoman Sudarma Neththikumara.
Earlier the warrant was issued on her as she failed to appear before the court for a case against her by another businessman who claimed Sudarma Neththikumara had breached an agreement by not repaying five million rupees.
