Opposition in doubt regarding the investigations carried out to nab the culprits who attacked a police officer on the expressway.
Police states that they hope to conclude investigations by next week with regard to the assault carried out on the police officer who was serving in the Southern Expressway.
Police media spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana stated that scientific evidence will be obtained by the government analyst.
A police officer was assaulted and his vehicle was set on fire by an unidentified gang near a Rubber estate in Kaluthara, Dodamgoda, Bobuwala area day before yesterday.
Police stated that 4 men who arrived in a cab had carried out the attack.
The police officer in his statement accused a deputy Minister for carrying out the attack.
In his statement it was revealed that a charge sheet that was issued to the deputy Minister on the expressway has led to the incident.
A charge sheet was issued at the Kottawa entry point to the deputy Minister of consumer affairs Hemal Gunasekara.
Meanwhile during 2 media briefings held by the UNP and the JVP, ideas were expressed regarding the incident.
UNP and JVP stated that they cannot trust the investigations carried out regarding the incident.
