In addition, students have been barred from entering the Wella Madama premises.

Residents led by area politicians staged a protest around the university yesterday against a decision not to hold the next year’s Deyata Kirula exhibition inside the university premises.

Inter University Student Federation Ruhuna University Secretary Ashan Vijayalath told that several students were assaulted in an incident occurred during the protest.

Meanwhile police media spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said that no complaint has yet been made by students with regard to an assault.  He said if such complaint has been made, police will hold an investigation.
