Deputy Speaker Chandima Weerakody in Parliament stated that SLMC Leader Rauf Hakeem is not considered as a part leader in the chambers.

Deputy Speaker made this statement when Minister Rauff Hakeem made a request to make a special statement in Parliament as a part leader.

Minister Hakeem questioned as to why a front seat is given to him considering him as a party leader.

Deputy Speaker in response stated that the speaker has only identified 4 individuals as party leaders in Parliament.

Opposition leader approved the deputy speaker’s statement and requested Minister Hakeem to solve the issue in the cabinet, if not to resign from the government.
