Allied health science degree requires 120 credits Decision taken during discussion with President.-Video
It was decided to offer degrees to Allied Health Science students on the basis of the completion of 120 credit marks.
This decision was taken today during a discussion presided by President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Temple Trees this morning.
However Court advice will be sought to implement this decision as the Allied Health Science dispute has already gone to court.
Peradeniya University Vice Chancellor Professor Athula Senarathna said that an Allied Health Science student has to study at least four years to obtain 120 credit levels as one student can complete only 30 credit marks during one year.
After today’s discussion, Professor Senarathna told our news team that there won’t be a three year degree program henceforth, and Allied Health Science students have to study for a four year degree instead.
The Government Medical Officers Association, University Grants Commission, Higher Education Ministry, Health Ministry, Vice Chancellors of Ruhunu and Peradeniya Universities and Peradeniya University Allied Health Science Faculty Dean Dr. Mahinda Wickramarathna participated in the discussion.
