Police stated that they have received information that an alleged group of persons have been involved in two murder cases including the murder of a person at Tangalle bus stand yesterday and a previous murder of a person near Tangalle Courts.
Police media spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana stated that two police teams are currently conducting an investigation regarding the cases.
A bus conductor was shot dead at Tangalle bus stand last noon by two armed persons who arrived in a motor bike wearing full face helmets. The conductor who received critical injuries to his head died after he was admitted to Tangalle Base Hospital.
The victim is a 34 year old resident of Henakaduwa, Tangalle and father of 3 children.
A person named Army Amila who was shot near Tangalle Courts on the 20th of this month, received critical injuries and currently receiving treatment at the hospital.
The investigations have revealed that the deceased bus conductor is a friend of Army Amila. Police suspect the reason for the shooting to be a long term dispute between the two.
