Heavy rain to lash South West for 4 days from tomorrow.-Video
The meteorology department states that there will be showers or thundershowers at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts.
Heavy falls more than 100 mili meters are also likely at some places.
Showers may extend to North-Western province too.
Duty Meteorologist Ananda Perera said Thundershowers will develop at several places in the Uva, North central and Eastern provinces during the afternoon or evening.
As the inclement weather gradually ceded, floods were also receding in certain areas.
Our correspondent reported however the water level of Gin Ganga has been increased.
Several villages of Nagoda and Baddegama Divisional Secretariat Divisions are still underwater including the road between Udugama and Baddegama.
Residents complain that heaps of garbage washed away by floods has blocked the Wakwella Bridge and flood waters do not recede soon.
Meanwhile Akuressa, Maramba and Eramudugoda areas of Matara district still remain underwater as the water level of Nilvala river remains at a higher degree.
At the same time, floods have not been receded in Malwana area which was inundated due to the overflowing of the Kelani River.
Meanwhile Director of Water Sciences of the Irrigation Department informed the residents living in low line areas to be vigilant about of the change of water level of nearby rivers.
