Sri Lankan Navy on two separate incidents has arrested 73 Indian fishermen for allegedly crossing the International Maritime Boundary line and fishing in the country's waters.

Navy spokesman Kosala Warnakulasuriya has said that 41 Indian fishermen were arrested off the coast of Thalaimannar in the north while another 32 fishermen were arrested off the Delft Islands yesterday.

The navy has also seized 15 mechanized boats of the fishermen.

The fishermen arrested in Delft were being brought to the Kankasanthurai Harbor while others would be handed over to the fisheries inspection office at Thalaimannar.

The latest arrests come a day after the Sri Lankan navy assisted the repatriation of 33 Indian fishermen arrested on June 01st.

73 Indian fishermen arrested

Navy arrested 73 Indian fishermen for violating the Maritime boundary line.

41 Indian fishermen were arrested in the Thalaimannar Sea while 32 Indian fishermen were arrested near Delft Island last night.

The Navy also seized 15 Indian trawlers.
