President declares open the Wallampitiya Sri Wimalarama Sunday school building; MP R Duminda Silva presents a memento to the President.
President Mahinda Rajapaksa says that a country where all could work together setting aside hatred and anger, should be built.
The President said so while participating recently at the inauguration of the newly constructed six-storey Dhamma school building and alms hall of the Sri Vimalaaraama Buddhist Temple in Waellampitiya.
Colombo District MP R. Duminda Silva received President Mahinda Rajapaksa when he arrived for the occasion.
A large number of residents including Dhamma School schoolchildren participated in the occasion.
On arrival at the Buddhist Temple President Mahinda Rajapaksa first participated in religious observances.
Subsequently the President unveiled the commemoration plaque and declared open the building complex as well.
This was followed by the commencement of the celebration assembly.
The Mahaa Sangha including the Prelate of the Malwatthu Chapter most venerable Niyangoda Vijithasiri Thero was also present on the occasion.
Addressing the audience President Mahinda Rajapaksa said that a renewal of life accepted by all religions had been brought about in the country.
Subsequently President Mahinda Rajapaksa presented a souvenir to Waellampitiyey Sri Vimalaaraama Buddhist Temple Chief Incumbent Venerable Labuthaley Sudassana Thero .
On this occasion Colombo District MP R. Duminda Silva also presented a souvenir to President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
