Written Solution to AHS dispute sent to universities; 170 day Sathyagraha ends tomorrow.
The University Grants Commission stated today that it sent the President’s resolution to the Allied Health Science dispute in writing to all Universities.
Accordingly the Inter University Students Federation Stated that they will call off the 170-day Sathyagraha from tomorrow.
Allied Health Science students began the Sathyagraha 170 days ago claiming that the academic period of their degree was reduced to three years.
Students staged their Sathyagraha campaign at Peradeniya University, Fort Railway Station, Galle Bus Stand and opposite the University grants Commission.
However Higher Education Minister S.B. Dissanayake told a recent media briefing that he was not ready to issue a written agreement with regard to the President’s solution to the Allied Health Science dispute.
However the Inter University Students Federation stated that the solution found during a recent discussion with the President was sent on paper to all respective universities bearing the signature of UGC Chairperson Professor Kshanika Hirimburegama’s.
