A multi-task Dengue Eradication programme on President's instruction.-Video
It has been decided to implement a special Dengue Eradication Programme within next week with the combined endeavor of Government Officers, police, army and local Government Institutions.
The President’s Media Unit said that the Presidential Dengue Eradication Task Force had met at Temple Trees last afternoon and arrived at this decision.
Accordingly a programme of inspecting Dengue-breeding sites with house-to-house visits and creating awareness is scheduled to be implemented island-wide.
On this occasion the President had pointed out the importance of speedily implementing a practical Dengue Eradication programme without being limited to discussions.
On this occasion the President also emphasized that when time was spent carrying out tests, lives of innocent people were lost.
At this meeting the President also instructed the authorities to prepare a programme through local government institutions for preventing the use of gutters when constructing houses in the future as there is a possibility for Dengue mosquitoes to breed in rain gutters of house roofs.
