Hiru Shraddhabhi Vandana Poson program organized by Hiru FM and Hiru TV at the historical Somawathi Sacred area was held yesterday with the participation of hundreds and thousands of devotes.

Accordingly several poojas which gave priority to spiritual and material aspects was held beneath the Somawathi Chetiya to mark the introducing of Buddhism to Sri Lanka.

The Hiru Shraddhabhi Vandana program began with the commencement of Sil program and a special pooja was held for the Somawathi Chetiya where the Buddha’s Tooth Relic was deposited.

In line with the Hiru Shraddhabhi Vandana program, Hiru FM and Hiru TV have organized several dhamma discussions and dhamma sermons throughout the day as well.

A special Buddha pooja comprising 32 different dishes prepared to that of varieties offered to the Maha Sangha during King Rajasinghe was prepared with the patronage of one of the country’s reputed chef Pubilis Silva.

It is significant to include a special curry made of white Crystal to the Buddha pooja today.

The special Buddha pooja was offered for the Buddha’s Right Tooth Relic deposited in the Somawathi Chetiya by Asia Broadcasting Corporation Network Chairman Mr. Rayynor Silva.

Another such meritorious deed was carried out at last years Hiru Sharadhdhaabhi-wandanaa as well where lay children were ordained.

Hiru Shaasanaawatharanaya is carried out as per a concept of the Chairman of the Asia Broadcasting Corporation Network Mr Rayynor Silva.

Asia Broadcasting Corporation Networks financially assisted the families of such children who were ordained and a house that was built for the parents of a child who was ordained last year was handed over yesterday by Chairman of the Asia Broadcasting Corporation Network Mr Rayynor Silva.

A special Kapruk Poojawa was also held at the Somawathie sacred grounds while 2 Buddha Statues made out of stone and 6 feet in height were also offered to the Somawathie Maha Viharaya by Asia Broadcasting Corporation Network Chairman Mr. Rayynor Silva.

100,000 Pichcha flowers were also offered to the Somawathie Temple.

Hiru Shraddhabhi Vandana Poson program organized by Hiru FM and Hiru TV at the historical Somawathi Sacred grounds came to a close with an Adishtaana pooja.

Monks who had arrived from Thailand were also present at the pooja conducted by Venerable Iththakande Sadhdhathissa Thera.

Another admonishment was conducted by Chief Sangha Nayake of Tamankaduwa 2 divisions Venerable Linda Kumbure Sri Sobhitha-Nanda Thera.

Another significance event of the Hiru Shraddhabhi Vandana program is the ordination of a group of novices for the existence of the Buddha Sasana.

On the sidelines of this ceremony, a completed house with all amenities was offered to the parents of a novice monk who entered Buddha Sasana during a similar ordination ceremony last year.

Alms giving were held for one hundred Bhikkus followed by a special Kapruk pooja.

Then the Adhistahna pooja by offering one hundred thousand jasmine flowers for the Somawathi Chetiya was held this evening after donating two six foot high stone Buddha statues to the temple.
