Chief Prelate of the Asgiriya Chapter Most Venerable Udugama Sri Buddha Rakkitha thero states that if there is an internal issue it should be solved internally and there is no point in telling foreign countries.

Chief prelate stated that a government Minister had notified in writing to the UNESCO headquarters in France that the gold plated Buddha statue in the Dambulu Raja Maha temple should be removed.

The Chief Prelate also pointed out that the Minister had requested UNESCO to stop development activities in the temple.
