Highest rainfall recorded in Norton area yesterday
The Norton area has received a rainfall of 348 millimeters during the last 24 hours that ended at 8.30 this morning
Meteorologist on duty Channa Rodrigo stated it was the highest rainfall recorded so far in this year.
As a result of the overflow of the Kalu River flood conditions prevail in Ratnapura, Elapaatha, and Kirella.
National Disaster Management Centre Deputy Media Director Sarath Laal Kumaara said that residents in the low-lying areas of the Kalutara District too should be vigilant.
While the National Disaster Management Centre said that a risk of landslides prevailed in the Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Ratnapura and Kegalle Districts from last afternoon the Deputy Media Director said the landslide risk will be in effect till 6 this evening.
