Police receives a complaint of torture allegedly committed by Udawalawa Police

A resident of Uda Walawa Campsite area complains that a group of police officers attached to the Uda Walawa Police Station assaulted and tortured him.

The victim 35-year-old Asanka Udaya Kumara Dharmapriya is receiving treatment at Ambilipitiya Base hospital.

Udaya Kumara told our news team that a group of policemen who took him to the police station assaulted him.

When our news team contacted Police Media Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said that the matter is being investigated under the supervision of an ASP.

This incident was reported even before the tension of another incident is receded where a young motor cyclist was allegedly shot dead by police at Pasyala on Wednesday night.

A 23-year old resident of Kitulwala in Mirigama was shot dead while he was riding a motor cycle on Kandy Colombo road near Pasyala junction.

However the victim’s pillion rider said in his statement that police shot at them for no reason.
