The 2 Sri Lankan sailors who were held captive by Somali pirates for 3 and half years and then released returned to the island from Doha today.

The 2 sailors were captured by the pirates while they were serving on board the M.Y. Alberto vessel owned by a Malaysian company.

The pirates hijacked the vessel 250 kilometers off coast on the 26th of November, 2010 and later anchored the vessel near the Malaysian coast.

24 persons were working on board the M.Y. Alberto while 6 among them were Sri Lankans.

The two sailors who were freed, Mohammad Bismin and Niroshan Perera told our news team that the other 4 went missing after the pirates took them into custody.
