Government Medical Officers Association says that they have decided to keep the Kotagala Medical Health Office closed until further notice.

The Association stated that this decision was taken following an incident where Minister Arumugam Thondaman had threatened Kotagala Medical Health Officer Jagath Abegunawardana during a recent meeting held on the Disaster situation.

The GMOA also stated that there was a threat to the lives of Doctors as even a protest had been organized yesterday by agitating the public in the area.

Deputy Minister Muththu Sivalingam stated that they will not keep room for the Kotagala Medical Health Officer to continue with his work.

However, Committee Member of the GMOA Dr Sidath Wijesekara stated that they will go in for an extended strike if Minister Thondaman did not apologize for the incident.
