Provide the gratuity as per the previous method - President instructs Treasury Secretary
President Mahinda Rajapaksa has instructed the Treasury Secretary to provide the retirement gratuity of state employees as per the previous method.
Certain factions raised concerns that the retirement gratuity is to be provided as a loan.
The Department of Pensions stated that however, it could be provided as per the current method and also as per the new method.
However, considering the situation at present, the President has instructed to provide the gratuity of state employees as per the current method.
Meanwhile, President Mahinda Rajapaksa who is in Bolivia to participate in the 50th Heads of State meeting of the Group of 77 met with Namibian Prime Minister Hagay Geingob yesterday.
The President stated that everyone should join hands to overcome unnecessary external interference.
President Rajapaksa stated that countries to which external forces intervened have fallen from bad to worse conditions.
The President reiterated that only certain politicians and forces against the country were unhappy about Sri Lanka’s progress.
The Sri Lankan President is also scheduled to receive an award from the Bolivian President Evo Morales for peace and democracy.
