UPDATE: Saliya-wewa OIC transferred for neglecting duty

The Police OIC of Saliya-wewa Ranjith Abenayake has been transferred with immediate effect due to the failure to take action regarding a recent incident in Karuwala-gas-wewa.

Police Media Spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana stated that the concerned OIC had neglected his duty.

12 persons were arrested by a special police team out of those who staged a protest in front of the Saliya-wewa Police station.

The protest was staged demanding the release of the Deputy Chairman of the Karuwala-gas-wewa Pradeshiya Sabha who was arrested for assaulting a Police officer.

The Police OIC of Saliya-wewa Ranjith Abenayake has been transferred with immediate effect to Nuwara-eliya.

Police Media Spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana confirmed this fact.

Our area correspondent stated that there were concerns regarding his conduct pertaining to the attack on a Police Officer by the Deputy Chairman of the Karuwalagas-wewa Pradeshiya Sabha.
