The fishermen between Negombo to Kalpitiya are currently staging a protest claiming that the government has suspended the fuel concession.

According to our correspondent, thousands of boats belonging to the protestors are anchored along the Chilaw lagoon.

The fishermen have hoisted black flags on their boats in protest.

They claim that the government has suspended the fuel concession for the past 10 months.

Meanwhile, another group of fishermen are protesting in Negombo.

According to our correspondent, a large number of fishermen have joined the protest which began near St. Sebastian’s Church in Wella-veediya, Negombo.
