24 hour ultimatum to health Minister to settle Kotagala problem
The GMOA has given the Health Minister an ultimatum till tomorrow to find a settlement to the uneasy situation created by Minister Arumugam Thondaman after allegedly insulted the Kotagala Medical Officer of Health.
GMOA Media spokesman Dr. Naveen de Soyza stated all MOH officials will resort to trade union action with effect from Wednesday the 18th of June unless the matter is settled.
A special meeting was held with Health Minister Maithreepala Sirisena this morning to discuss the safety of doctors attached to government hospitals in the district after Kotagala MOH Janath Abeygunawardana was insulted.
Dr. Soyza said that Minister Sirisena agreed during the meeting to discuss the matter with Minister Thondaman.
However when our news team contacted Ceylon Workers Congress Leader Minister Muttu Sivalingam to comment on the allegation, he categorically rejected the charges leveled against him by GMOA.
