The debate with regard to the resolution to the effect that the investigation scheduled to be carried out by the UNHRC against Sri Lanka should not be conducted is due to be held in parliament today.

While this resolution signed by nine Government MPs recently will be taken up for debate today or tomorrow, the vote on the resolution will be taken tomorrow.

The JVP had also submitted a proposal for an amendment to the proposal recently.

The UNP added several more proposals for amendment to it yesterday.

Among these proposed amendments are full implementation of the all LLRC recommendations, reactivating the provisions of the 17th Amendment and incorporating the Latimer House Principles among the amendment proposals as a part of the Constitution.

The UNP says that the most appropriate action before the government is to face the UN Human Rights Commission international investigation.

UNP MP Mangala Samaraweera announced this during a media briefing held in Colombo yesterday.

Meanwhile Frontline Socialist Party stated during a media briefing that they agree to hold a debate in parliament over the UN Human Rights Commission investigation on Sri Lanka.
