Ruling party member Janaka Priyantha Bandara told in parliament today that a referendum should be held to decide whether an international investigation is allowed in the country.
Presenting a proposal to parliament that the UN Human Rights Committee is not allowed entry to hold an investigation against the country, the MP said that the people have the supreme power to take such a decision.
The Secretary General of Parliament Dhammika Dasanayake said, according to parliament standing orders, a MP elect for the new parliament can sit anywhere inside the chambers until a speaker is elected.
