30 arrested for violating curfew in Beruwala and Aluthgama.

Police curfew has been lifted in Beruwala and Aluthgama until further notice.

Police Media Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said curfew will be re-imposed if necessary.

Police have arrested 47 persons for violating curfew and 30 out of them have been remanded.

He also said security in the area is beefed up although police curfew is lifted.

Meanwhile Army Media Spokesman Brigadier Ruwan Wanigasuriya said that every organization should act dispassionately under the existing situation.

Meanwhile UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has condemned the untoward incidents in Beruwala and Aluthgama.

He stated that the Sri Lankan government should endure to take immediate measures for the safety of members of all communities living in the country.
