President Mahinda Rajapaksa stressed that an impartial investigation will be held with regard to the Beruwala and Aluthgama incidents and all culprits responsible will definitely be brought to book.

The President announced this decision after touring the affected areas of Beruwala and Aluthgama this afternoon.

On his arrival in the island after completing his recent Bolivian tour, the President travelled to Beruwala and met religious leaders, political leaders and government officers to enquire about the incidents.

He also said that steps will be taken to prevent unscrupulous actions by certain groups in the future.

The President also assured to withdraw troops from the area as soon as communal harmony is improved.

He also stressed that steps will be taken to repair all damaged property.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa stressed that an investigation should be held with regard to Beruwala and Aluthgama incidents and all culprits should be brought to book irrespective of their religious differences.

The President pointed out this during a meeting with religious leaders and area political leaders which is currently being held at the Beruwala Divisional Secretariat office.

President Rajapaksa participated in a meeting at Beruwala Divisional Secretariat to ascertain about the recent incidents occurred in Beruwala and Aluthgama.
