EU & US concerned regarding Beruwala and Aluthgama incidents
The European Union Delegation in a statement says that the Mission in Sri Lanka is very alarmed by the recent violent incidents in Beruwala and Aluthgama.
It also stated that the Mission welcomed the Sri Lankan government’s assurance that it will investigate and bring to book those responsible for these incidents.
Meanwhile US State Department issuing a statement said that the Sri Lankan government has a responsibility to take measures to promote religious harmony.
It also stated that the US is concerned about the government’s actions against the culprits responsible for the Aluthgama and Beruwala incidents.
UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon in his statement has condemned the Beruwala and Aluthgama incidents.
He stated that the Sri Lankan government should take immediate action to ensure safety of all communities living in Sri Lanka.
Meanwhile JVP Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake issued a statement with regard to the Beruwala and Aluthgama incidents.
He pointed out that the protection of both the nation and the motherland depends on communal harmony.
MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake said that it is the collective responsibility of all Sri Lankans to rally under the flag of national harmony to fight against all elements of racism.
Meanwhile, General Secretary of Sri Lanka Communist Party Minister DEW Gunasekera stated in a notice his party urges the government to hold an independent investigation to find the true motive behind the Beruwala and Aluthgama incidents.
