THE GMOA has decided not to participate in any health program organized or participated by Minister Arumugam Thondaman.

GMOA Central Working Committee member Dr. Haritha Aluthge said that this decision was taken during the association’s special executive committee meeting held this morning.

No statement has yet been issued by Minister Thondaman with regard to the GMOA’s trade union action against the former’s threatening the Kotagala MOH recently.

Doctors attached to 13 MOH offices of the Nuwara Eliya District have resorted to trade union action from last Friday claiming that they are not safe at offices after Minister Thondaman threatened the Kotagala MOH.

A special meeting was held among GMOA, Health Minister Maithreepala Sirisena and MP Naveen Dissanayake at the Health ministry this morning.

Dr. Aluthge said a fresh meeting will be held tomorrow morning in order to discuss about calling off the prevailing trade union actions in Nuwara Eliya District.
