Sri Lanka explains to Human Rights Commission on Aluthgama incident.
The Sri Lankan government has replied to the statements made by Germany, Norway and Canada regarding the Aluthgama incidents during the UN Human Rights Commission debate.
This was by the Deputy Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka in Geneva.
She stated that 43 persons had been arrested with regard to the violence.
After having explained the events that led to the violence, which erupted in Aluthgama, Deputy Permanent Representative said during meeting between the President and community leaders, both Muslim and Buddhist leaders agreed to follow programs to promote harmony.
She also stated that the President had assured of an impartial inquiry.
