No charge sheet; says Colombo Uni. deputy VC Removal is legal: a statement from the UGC.
The University Grants Commission stated that the removal of Professor Prema Kumara de Silva from the post of Deputy Vice Chancellor of Colombo University is legal.
Meanwhile Professor Prema Kumara de Silva told our news team that University Senate has taken steps to remove him from the post of Deputy Vice Chancellor but no reason or charge sheet has been sent to him.
When contacted UGC Chairperson Professor Kshanika Hirimburegama said the University Senate has removed Professor Prema Kumara de Silva under the powers vested with the Senate.
The Colombo University Senate took this decision when they met on 18th of this month and the UGC gave its approval later.
Our news team contacted former MP Thilak Karunarathna who now represents the University Senate to comment on the removal of Professor de Silva.
He also said that the Senate removed the former Deputy Vice Chancellor Professor Prema Kumara de Silva under the powers vested with the Senate.
