Police stated that they will begin excavations of a site near Kurukkal-madam coastal area, Kalawanchikudi on the 1st of July.

The site is alleged to be the burial area of the Muslims killed by the LTTE.

According to police media spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana, the excavations will commence following the court order obtained yesterday.

On the 9th of April a Muslim resident of Kaath-than-kudi Police division lodged a complaint at Kalawan-chi-kudi Police stating that 100 Muslims have disappeared on several occasions.
