Sri Lanka's new Ambassador to meet President Obama

The External Affairs Ministry stated that Sri Lanka’s New Ambassador to the United States Prasad Kariyawasam is scheduled to meet US President Barak Obama next month.

Kariyawasam was designated to the post after the tenure of former Ambassador Jaliya Wickramasuriya, was expired.

External Affairs Ministry spokesman told our news team that Ambassador Kariyawasam is now in the US and is scheduled to assume office next week.

Prasad Kariyawasam who joined the Foreign Service in 1981 has served as Sri Lanka’s permanent representative at the UN Head Quarters in New York and its Geneva office.

He served as Sri Lanka’s Ambassador in India before he was designated to the United States.
