Minister of Petroleum Anura Priyadarshana Yapa said stocks of refined oil sufficient for a month are available despite the temporary closure of the Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery.

The Minister told a media briefing held in Colombo today an off-shore hose which pumped crude oil from Colombo harbor had a burst on last Monday and repairing of the damaged hose has been delayed.

He also said the Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery was temporarily closed for annual maintenance.

However Petroleum trade unions pointed out that the corporation will have to accrue heavy losses due the closure of the Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery.
