15 year old student falls to his death from a mango tree.
A Year-10 student of Raththota Dikkumbura Vidyalaya in Matale fell to death from a mango tree.
The student who got serious head injuries this morning was first rushed to Rathathota hospital, from there to Matale hospital and later transferred to Kandy Teaching hospital.
Kandy Hospital Deputy Director Dr. Susil Siriwardana said the student was pronounced dead as doctors prepared to perform a surgery on him.
He also said serious injuries caused inside the head which led to internal bleeding could be the reason for the student death.
The victim has been identified as Kasun Buddhika Ranatunga, the youngest child of a family of two of Mavussagolla in Matale.
When our news team contacted Dikkumbura Vidyalaya principal C.B. Hulangamuwa to comment on the incident, he provided us the Raththota Education Circuit Director’s telephone number.
The Raththota Education Circuit Director said the student had climbed a tree to pluck mangoes during a Dengue elimination program in the school.
