Arrest MP Mangala if found guilty; MP Ajith P Perera
UNP MP Ajith P Perera said MP Mangala Samaraweera should be arrested immediately if he has committed any offence.
Addressing a media briefing held in Colombo, MP Perera said it is the government’s responsibility to hold a proper investigation on the statement allegedly made by MP Samaraweera.
Various factions charged MP Samaraweera for divulging state secrets after he revealed the names of a few intelligence officers who claimed to be behind certain religious movements.
Meanwhile a retired Air Force officer of Pannipitiya made a complaint against MP Samaraweera to the Mirihana police yesterday.
In his complaint, the retired officer has asked police to take legal action against the MP for divulging state secrets and making statements leading to communal disharmony.
When contacted Police Media Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said investigations have already been initiated with regard to the complaint.
However MP Mangala Samaraweera told our news team that he was not summoned or even asked to give an oral statement yet following the so called complaint against him.
In addition, JHU Media Spokesman and PC member Nishantha Sri Warnasinghe told our news team legal action should be instituted with regard to the statement made by UNP MP Mangala Samaraweera.
