Tension at Ragama hospital: Nurses commence strike.
A special discussion is currently being held on the disputed situation between nurses and midwives of the Ragama hospital.
A hospital spokesman said a group of health ministry officials, hospital administrative officials and hospital trade union representatives are participating in the discussion.
The nursing officers of Ragama hospital decided to restrain from duty over an altercation between a group of nurses and the hospital junior staff this morning.
Meanwhile 11 midwives have been locked in the labor room from last 26th as they are unable to off from duty since they refused to sign the attendance register that is kept under the supervision of the nursing staff.
The locked up midwives have been provided meal with the assistance of junior staffers and doctors.
